About US

Elise Andrucson Truong corset designer from Edmonton Alberta Canada.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

I identified what moves me as an artist and found myself creating for the burlesque community. I am inspired by old-world glamour aesthetics but not ideals. I’m influenced by the iconic misfits throughout history, and surround myself with those who carry themselves similarly. I tend to live vicariously through these folk, and what better way to honour this than to share my inherited love for costume design and corset them in my work.

My name is Elise Truong, and I am a third-generation Chinese dressmaker in Amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton), who discovered a deep love for clothing design while growing up in my mother’s tailor shop. Corsetry lies at the heart of my practice. They were the first garments I learned to create and remains the cornerstone of my work. Through corset-making, I was introduced to the world of cabaret and burlesque. What began as a passion evolved into a dedicated practice, and I now bring nearly 20 years of experience creating for the burlesque arts. My designs have appeared in award-winning productions across Canada and beyond, amplifying diverse voices, celebrating body sovereignty, and honoring the history of cabaret arts.
